Elderly Pakistani Man Stabbed To Death After Leaving Mosque In Birmingham
A 75-year-old man stabbed to death yards from his home may have been targeted in a racially motivated attack, according to police.
Mohammed Saleem, who used a walking stick, was stabbed three times in the back as he returned home from prayers at his local mosque in Small Heath, Birmingham, on Monday night.
The blows were struck with such violence they penetrated to the front of his body.
The father of seven also had no defensive wounds in what has been described as a swift, vicious and cowardly attack by the man leading the murder investigation, Detective Superintendent Mark Payne of West Midlands police.
Officers want to trace a white man, aged 25-32, of medium height and build, spotted on CCTV footage running near the scene of the attack around the time it happened, just before 10.30pm.
Police also want to trace a seven-seat people carrier captured on CCTV, driving near the mosque with the two male occupants, both white and in their 30s, who are considered “significant witnesses”.
In an emotional family appeal on Thursday, two of Saleem’s daughters, Shazia Khan, 45, and Nazia Maqsood, 44, called for the attackers to hand themselves in. They tearfully described their father as a “widely respected member of the community” and “much-loved”.

Senate Accepts Deal to Kick Formerly Incarcerated Off Food Benefits - COLORLINES
Yesterday, Sen. Vitter of Louisiana offered up an amendment to permanently drop anyone ever convicted of a violent crime from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). According to Robert Greenstein, president of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, Democrats in the Senate obliged him. The amendment is for a farm bill, which is currently being debated in the Senate.
The amendment would bar from SNAP (food stamps), for life, anyone who was ever convicted of one of a specified list of violent crimes at any time — even if they committed the crime decades ago in their youth and have served their sentence, paid their debt to society, and been a good citizen ever since. In addition, the amendment would mean lower SNAP benefits for their children and other family members.
So, a young man who was convicted of a single crime at age 19 who then reforms and is now elderly, poor, and raising grandchildren would be thrown off SNAP, and his grandchildren’s benefits would be cut. … Democrats accepted it without trying to modify it to address its most ill-considered aspects.
Two-thirds of SNAP recipients are children, elderly or the disabled, and two-fifths of SNAP households live below half the poverty line.

You know what’s crazy?! That some women don’t wear makeup to impress men. Some women do it because they like it. When I wear 5 different colors on my eyes with bright ass pink lipstick I KNOW that shit ain’t cute. But you know why I do it? Because makeup is about having fun and being artistic. So if you don’t like my fabulously defined eyebrows I’m okay with that, I didn’t need your approval anyways. I just think some men really need to put their egos to the side and STOP thinking that everything women do is to impress you guys.

Because I feel great about myself when I’m wearing them.

Joe Francis, founder of the now-bankrupt Girls Gone Wild franchise, was convicted yesterday (May 6, 2013) of falsely imprisoning three women and severely assaulting at least one of them back in 2011.
According to the L.A. City Attorney, Francis picked up three women outside the Supperclub in Hollywood and brought them back to his home under false pretenses.
He then refused to let them leave, and got extremely physical with one of the women.
The City Attorney says Francis “grabbed one of the women by the throat and hair and slammed her head into the tile floor four times.”
He then finally allowed them to go back to their car, but not before warning them not to call the authorities, which is exactly what they did.
Francis now faces up to five years in prison after being found guilty of false imprisonment (3 counts), assault causing great bodily injury (one count), and dissuading a witness from reporting (one count).
Sentencing will take place tomorrow, May 8th.
Though this is the first time Francis has been found guilty of assaulting a woman, it is not the first time he has been accused of it. From The Hollywood Reporter:
Last year, police said a car collision with a woman in Beverly Hills turned into a physical confrontation, while Playboy model JaydeNicole previously accused him of physical assault, also at a Hollywood nightclub.

He says he is a “sophisticated, classy” guy, who did “a nice thing” for the women he was just convicted of falsely imprisoning:
“It just proves that any celebrity in Hollywood should never give a ride home to any girls. I mean, there were 20 people in the afterparty. They [say they] got their head slammed on a tile floor and they were imprisoned here for hours. They said it was here on the tile floor. I don’t see any tile right here. Now you’ve been here for hours. Have you been imprisoned?”
Really, all four pages of the article are tremendous. It’s like reading three seasons of a reality show, in which a hateful dickhead dies an agonizing death. Writer Stephen Galloway hedges momentarily, assuring us that Francis is “generous, trusting, warm and eager to please” (“I’m a nice guy!” says Francis, lover of the word “retarded,” hater of jurors and of “monster, piece-of-shit asshole” Steve Wynn), but the story’s kicker is world-class shade. I’m not even going to spoil it for you.

The best way to dehumanize someone while claiming you’re not is to believe you are just the same. You erase their experiences and perspective, their struggles and obstacles, their unique way of having to deal with those things in a world that also erases them. With the words, ‘but humans are humans’ or the bs dramatics of ‘we all bleed red’ normal people can simply pretend that if we all did things the way they did, then everything would work out okay. Reddit Refusing To Remove Popular Subpages That Promote Harmful Behavior
I’m writing in an attempt to bring awareness to a current petition going on trying to enforce Reddit to actually act on their own User Agreement and remove all their pages (subreddits) that do not follow these guidelines.
“You agree not to use any obscene, indecent or offensive language… [material must not be] defamatory, abusive, bullying, harassing, racist, hateful, or violent….further agree not to use any sexually suggestive language…” - taken from Reddits User Agreement
Unfortunately right now Reddit is ignoring their own rules and letting pages like the following exist with little to absolutely no moderation:

These subreddits are not that unknown either. If you go through the top subreddits on Reddit you will find almost every single one of these within the first 10-20 pages. This is simply something that everyone that uses Reddit, including their own moderating team, turn a blind eye too.
Recently one of the most popular subreddits on Reddit “creepshots” that was dedicated to users taking suggestive pictures of woman without their consent and putting it online without their knowledge was taken down. Users of this subreddit were known for posting pictures of underage girls, a teacher was even fired from taking pictures of his students and posting it on creepshots. This subreddit was deleted by the creator of creepshots because someone was blackmailing him and threatening to expose his identity. It was not taken down by Redditors moderators even after all the media backlash and arrests made that have come from Creepshots.
